The NeverEnding Story: A film review

 - Vancouver, British Columbia - There were movies that I watched while growing up and then there are movies that I grew up with, and The NeverEnding Story was one of the latter. It was with me for as long as I can remember. My family and I used to watch the VHS copy that my grandma owned many of the times that we visited. I still remember my fascination with the opening title sequence as that catchy title song started playing and we were shown visuals of mysterious clouds. As it was released just two years before I was born, there was never a time when I didn't know The NeverEnding Story. But I do believe that I can give a fairly objective review and I will share with you some of the things that worked well for me as a kid and what still works well for me as an adult.

Shipwrecked: A film review

 - Vancouver, British Columbia - I can imagine that few of you reading this will have ever heard of this film, or if you happen to have stumbled upon it via Google, maybe you were searching it out specifically. In any event, if you're a faithful Sour Grapes Winery reader, Shipwrecked stands out as something of a special piece of memorabilia, as it was the first film that I ever saw in a theatre. Later when the film came out on VHS, my parents purchased it and I re-watched the film countless times, memorizing every line of the dialogue. It occurred to me recently that it had been probably at least 14-15 years since I had seen the film, so I sought out a DVD copy on Amazon and managed to order it with the intention of reviewing it, which is where I find myself today.

Zookeeper: A film review

 - Vancouver, British Columbia - Ever since Homeward Bound, which I foolishly watched far too many times as a child, I've personally loathed any film that has made the imbecilic choice of giving live animals human voices. I get it, kids supposedly love this stuff, but it has been very rare that it has been pulled off in an effective or timeless manner. Thus when I saw the initial trailers for Zookeeper, I had no interest in seeing the film, not even reviewing it for free. However, a new trailer premiered showcasing that maybe Zookeeper was not just another film with talking animals but something with heart and amusing situational comedy.
