Moneyball: A film review

 - Vancouver, British Columbia - When I was about fourteen years old or so, I was in Oregon, visiting my cousins and watching one of their varsity basketball games. One of his friends began talking to my brothers and I and found out that we were from Canada, then the conversation veered towards sports and he asked what my favourite sport was. I proclaimed that it was ice hockey to which he replied, "God, I can't stand ice hockey....it's so slow." Not being familiar with this being a criticism of hockey, I retorted and demanded to know which sport he preferred. His response was silencing. Baseball. I've always enjoyed playing baseball, but watching it on the television has often been torturous, as the game is so damn slow. Attending the games live can be entertaining due to the company and the atmosphere, but watching a regular season game on the tele is enough to put me to sleep. Thus when I found out that Brad Pitt was starring in a new baseball flick, Moneyball, I wasn't sure what to expect as I had largely dismissed most baseball movies since having to endure Angels in the Outfield as a child.
