Neon Indian - Era Extraña

 - Vancouver, British Columbia - Last week I tackled Neon Indian’s first album, Psychic Chasms, and found it to be a delightful psychedelic romp, although I questioned whether Alan Palomo and the band could produce a follow-up that didn’t sound stale and repetitive. To be honest, I already knew the answer because I had already heard the 2011 release, and had long since added it to my album collection. Era Extraña is an astonishingly good album with a feel that is nostalgic and unique at the same time.

LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening

 - Vancouver, British Columbia - I must admit, I bought this album on a whim. One of my staff was playing her iPod, and a particularly groovy song came up. I snuck over and checked out the album information, then wrote it down. When I was finally able to hit up my local music store for a money dump, I couldn’t even recall what the song sounded like. Plus, I make it a point to never buy an album after only hearing one song – I’ve been fooled before. Maybe it was because I was buying them with gift cards, or maybe it was based on how much I enjoyed their first album (“Daft Punk is playing at my house…at my house!”), but I decided to purchase LCD Soundsystem’s third and final album.
