"Art for Art's Sake"

- Lions Bay, British Columbia - Until my third-year of university, I had little interest in discussions about art. For the most part, I had disregarded most art today as completely irrelevant to most of society, particularly my own life. Even today, I still remain suspect about so much of the art that is being produced today. Two weeks ago, I checked out the Contemporary Art museum in Los Angeles and saw some of the sculptures outside. A few were interesting, though I had no idea what statement that they were trying to make. Worst of all, there was one piece that was four square, hollow concrete blocks laying on the ground in a line. I’m sure the artist, whoever he may have been, had something deep that he was thinking when he developed it in his mind. I’m sure.
